The Perfect Equestrian Day Out

by Eland Lodge 16 Mar 2022 0 Comments

Riding, shopping, coffee & cake with friends – now that’s our idea of the perfect equestrian day out!

Everyone says the same thing when they visit Eland Lodge – “it’s well worth the journey!”

Schooling or competing? – The choice is yours

Here at Eland Lodge we run a variety of competitions and clinics throughout the season; with everything from grassroots unaffiliated events up to affiliated competitions, there’s something for everyone.

If you’d rather come along for a fun day out with no competition pressure, then facility hire is perfect for you. Depending on the time of year, you can choose from Cross Country Schooling, Showjumping Course Hire, Arena Eventing Hire, Dressage Board Hire, or a Mirrored Flatwork Arena. If you want to get some training in then don’t forget you can bring your instructor with you, or if you’re just wanting to have some fun, come along with a group of friends or yard buddies.

The Perfect Equestrian Day Out

Love a trip to a tack shop?

There’s just something about a shopping trip to good tack shop! And there’s nowhere better than the Equestrian and Country Store at Eland Lodge. Not only is there a pretty impressive saddlery section where you can get all of those equine essentials (bridles, headcollars, rugs, saddle pads, supplements, grooming kit… the list goes on). There’s also a  huge range of equestrian clothing and rider wear for men, women and children, an amazing selection of footwear, and one of the best safety wear fitting teams in the country. Plus a gorgeous collection of countrywear for those more casual days, from all of the leading brands including Fairfax & Favor, Holland Cooper, Barbour, Joules and more.

So whether you’re an avid collector of saddle pads, someone who has a rug for every occasion, you can’t resist a bargain pair of jods, you have more bridles than your horse could ever wear, or you love all things matchy matchy, you’re sure to find something you love at Eland Lodge.

Sit back and relax in the on-site coffee shop

Let’s face it, many of us equestrians do like (and deserve!) a tasty treat after we’ve been riding. Eland Lodge’s Coffee Shop is perfectly situated for a little break after you’ve ridden, and offers a great selection of light snacks and refreshments. Whether a luxurious hot chocolate is needed on a crisp winter’s day, or a cold drink will be just the thing after a summer schooling session, you’ll find something that hits the spot from the Coffee Shop.

If you’ve cajoled a non-horsey-other-half into accompanying you on your trip, this is also the perfect place for them to have a little break. Treat them to a coffee and cake, and drop them off on the comfy sofa’s, ready to collect when you’ve finished your equestrian shopping.

Planning your visit to Eland Lodge

Sound like the perfect equestrian trip to you? Then it’s time to get planning!

Gather up your friends, sort out a date that works for you, then:

  1. Book your facility hire online. You can choose from Cross Country Schooling, Showjumping Arena Hire, Arena Eventing Course Hire, Dressage Board Hire or a Mirrored Flatwork Arena (facility availability depends on season/events). Or enter an event here.
  2. Get writing that shopping list. With so many exciting products in store to distract you, you don’t want to forget something that you really need! Make a list of all those little essentials you need to stock up on, as well as those big wishlist items. If it’s about time to replace that old hat or body protector, or you’re ready to invest in an air jacket, then book a safety wear fitting before you arrive. Our team are all fully trained and qualified in safety wear fitting, so take advantage of their expertise while you’re here.
  3. Make space for cake! No horsey shopping trip is complete without something yummy to eat, and you’re in for a treat when you come to Eland Lodge. Our coffee shop is famous not only for the fresh ground coffee, but also for Veronica’s exquisite home-made cakes. There’s also a selection of light refreshments, snacks and hot & cold drinks to tempt you.
